First and foremost, a ping pong show is a form of stage entertainment (almost a comedy show) that takes place in Thailand’s nightclubs. The show consists of mainly Thai women (usually prostitutes) using their pelvic muscles to either hold, eject, or blow various objects (for example, cigarettes, razors, needles, chopsticks, candles, darts, and even baby crabs!) from their vaginal cavity. Sounds exciting, right?

• It’s best if you go in a large group (at least, 3-4 people) so it’s unlikely that anything will happen to you.

• You won’t get assaulted, but the chance of having a huge surprise of a bill that you are demanded to pay at the end of the show is very high. So, before attending the show, always ask the tout or a bar manager what’s the exact price that you are expected to pay, and try to pay it in advance.

• Take less money and small change only. Unless, of course, you want to see all the shows and tip like a rockstar, 500 Baht (in the 20s and 50s) per person is more enough. If the tout hits you up for more money (and, especially tips!) you can say “This is all I have left. If you’d told me it would cost more I would not have come in as I don’t have enough money”.
